2021 President's Letter
This time last year I wrote to you all letting you know that we would have to shuffle our schedules, postpone some events, and hope to be back to “business as usual” by July 2020. Well, that did not go as planned! I am still so thankful for everything we accomplished as a club last year.
The shift in how meetings were held and what volunteer events were open to us really expanded our reach as a club. We were able to help out our friends at The Shelter, Grace Place, Youth Haven, and Children’s Advocacy Center of Naples in different ways last year and we will continue to do so for 2021.
All of our general meetings will continue to be in person with recognized COVID-19 precautions in place and a zoom stream will be available for those who still feel unsafe to venture out. We have rolled out our committees and all members must be a part of at least one committee to remain “in good standing” with the club. Zoom will facilitate committee meetings as well, allowing everyone to participate. Please email email@example.com or see the poll in the “members only page” for committee names, chairpersons, and to inform us of your committee selection. We are excited to use our numbers to promote all aspects of our club and reach out in our community. We cannot do it without you! I am so grateful to everyone who has shown enthusiasm for these committees, especially our new members.
Our fundraising events in 2020 were not as large as they were in prior years, however, we are so fortunate to have generous members & friends. We will be able to continue to provide our 3 scholarships to local high school seniors. Our new scholarship committee has been formed and we thank them all for their dedication to the upcoming review of applicants through the program in place at Community Foundation.
Please save the date for our annual Derby Dash! May 1st at the Naples Beach Hotel. Please consider joining us, especially this year as it will be our last at this venue as they move forward with their property refreshment plans later in May.
I can not end this letter without a big thank you to my fellow board members for all of their hard work this past year. We had to do things to keep the club moving forward that we never did before and there is no way I could have done it without them!
Lastly, I am so excited to bring you all more information from GFWC Florida as we continue to Live the Volunteer Spirit with all of our sister clubs in Florida and beyond. If you want to be more involved with the GFWC, please reach out to any of us on the board.
With love & hope for great things in 2021,
