2020 President's Letter

Hello Ladies,

In light of the current COVID-19 pandemic, we here at Naples Junior Woman’s Club are doing our part to minimize the potential spread of the virus. We do have some important updates regarding our meetings and events for the next few months. While we have no idea how long this will last & take us to recover from, we are hoping to be back to “business as usual” by July. Please still keep an eye on all of our events posts on Facebook as some of them will be virtual. Here is our tentative plan:

April, May, & June general meetings and book clubs will not meet at the clubhouse, however we will be providing links for us to do some yoga/ workouts from home, together on those days. Book club will be done through Zoom, stay tuned for that post!

Habitat For Humanity has NOT cancelled any of their builds as of yet. We will update you if there are any changes. If you are interested, please remember to go to the Habitat For Humanity website to fill out your application.

The April End of Season party the Woman’s Club invited us to on April 1st has been canceled. We will be working with the Naples Woman’s club to set up future events.

Our fundraising events for 2020 have been shuffled a little bit to accommodate the new tentative date for the running of the Kentucky Derby. Our Derby Dash 2020 has been moved to September 5th to coincide with that move. We have confirmed the same room is available at the Naples Beach Hotel for September 5th. All purchased tickets as well as any sponsorships will be applied to our new date. Our Bubble Ball will most likely be moved from September to July to allow us time between our new Derby Dash date & our usually Bubble ball date. The Halloween Trolley will still be taking place in October. We are working on securing the 3 trolleys and posting a confirmed date & time.

If you are on the Scholarship Committee, please check your emails if you missed it- Kelsey sent out an email this past Sunday outlining the application review process.

While it is a good idea to continue practicing social distancing & avoiding unnecessary contact, there is a great need in our community for volunteers. Harry Chapin Food Bank needs volunteers tomorrow Thursday, March 19th from 12-2:30 pm to pack food. If you know of any other volunteer needs, please post to the Facebook group with all of the pertinent information. We will continue to Live the Volunteer Spirit in this time of need as is our club & federation creed.
